Protests will be held in Paris and other French cities on September 8 against the government’s environmental policies

Warning

Event

A march is scheduled to take place in Paris, on Saturday, September 8, to call for more government attention to environmental policy issues. The demonstration will begin at 14:00 (local time) at City Hall and end at Place de la République. Social media indicate that around 20,000 people have registered for this event. Protests are planned in other French cities, including Nantes (Haute-Bretagne region), Bordeaux (Nouvelle-Aquitaine region), Marseille (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region) and Strasbourg (Grand Est region). Potential disruptions can be expected in the area's public transportation lines (metro, bus and tram), as well as in street traffic.

Context

This march follows ecology minister Nicolas Hulot's resignation, which he explained as being caused by the lack of priority given to policies falling within his previous portfolio.

Advice

Individuals present in the area are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
