Tropical Depression Nineteen-E formed in the Gulf of California on Wednesday morning (local time), September 19. It is expected to bring heavy rains to the coast of Sonora in northwestern Mexico through Wednesday night and into Thursday, September 20. Mexico's National Water Commission is warning of 15-25 cm (6-10 in) of rain and surfs of up to 3 m (10 ft) for the coast of Sonora, Sinaloa, and both Baja California and Baja California Sur. Flash flooding and mudslides are possible. As of 15:00, the storm was located 225 km (140 mi) south of Hermosillo and producing sustained winds of 55 km/h (35 mph).
