Singapore: Grand Prix road closures for Marina Centre in effect September 12-18 /update 1

Roads will be closed around Marina Centre beginning 00:01 (local time) on Wednesday, September 12, until Wednesday, September 18, as Singapore prepares to host the 2018 F1 Grand Prix. Authorities will reopen roads temporarily during peak weekday traffic periods. Access to the Marina Centre area (Suntec City, Millenia Walk, Marina Square, and Esplanade) is also possible at selected times via a single lane along Raffles Boulevard via Nicoll Highway. MRT train services will be extended from Friday, September 14, to Sunday, September 16, to allow higher commuter usage. All roads will be fully reopened by 05:30 on September 18. Context

The 2018 Singapore Grand Prix will be held from September 14 through Sunday, September 16. Thousands of people are expected to attend the event.

Officials have also implemented temporary restrictions for drone usage and other aerial activity during the race. Flying unmanned aircraft, releasing flight lanterns, and kite-flying are prohibited from ground level to 4,000 feet above sea level on the following dates and times: September 13, 02:30 to 22:30, September 14, 16:00 to 23:00, September 15, 15:00 to September 16, 00:15, and September 16, 17:00 to 23:45. Conducting unauthorized aerial activities within a temporary restricted area is a serious offence, with culprits exposed to fines of up to USD 14,500 (20,000 Singaporean dollars) for the first offence and jail sentence of up to 15 months for subsequent offences.
