South Africa: Government to relax visa rules September 25

The Department of Home Affairs announced on Tuesday, September 25, that some immigration rules would be relaxed beginning in October 2018 in order to boost tourism and investments in the country. According to Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba, regulations for travelers from India and China will be relaxed, allowing them to apply for five-year multiple entry visas. Visa waiver agreements are also reportedly being finalized with Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, the UAE, Qatar, Iran, Lebanon, the State of Palestine, Belarus, Georgia, and Cuba. Rules for traveling minors will also be adjusted, with minors no longer being required to carry documents that prove parental consent for their trip and birth certificates.
