Protesters created roadblocks and set debris on fire in Springfield area of Durban (KwaZulu-Natal) in the morning (local time) of Friday, September 14. The protest, which closed Alpine Road to traffic in the morning, is that latest in a series of blockades in the area beginning Monday, September 10. The perpetrators are members of an informal community in Morningside, a community overlooking Alpine Road, who are demanding housing and service delivery. Further protests in the area, particularly beginning in the morning, and associated transportation disruptions are possible in the coming days.
