The 2018 World Firefighters Games (WFG) kicked off in Chungju on Sunday, September 9. The sporting event will run until September 18 in the city - located 150 km (95 mi) southeast of Seoul - and six neighboring towns: Cheongju, Eumseong, Goesan, Danyang, Jecheon, and Jincheon. The event - dubbed the "the mini-Olympics for firefighters" - brings together 6000 firefighters from across the globe. Road diversions and crowded conditions are possible near competition sites.
