Thailand: Foreign tourists attacked with knife in Bangkok Sep. 11

German tourists suffer knife attack in downtown Bangkok on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 11

Informational

Event

On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 11, a German tourist and his wife were attacked with a knife in downtown Bangkok, near the BTS Mor Chit station. The attacker was wearing a red towel wrapped around his head and abruptly assaulted the two, both in their sixties, seemingly without notice or reason. Passers-by converged on the attacker and detained him until police arrived.

Context

On a related note, other foreign nationals have recently fallen victims to thieves (on motorbikes especially) while walking along busy streets or traveling in open-air means of transportation in Thailand.

Advice

Individuals in Thailand are advised to remain vigilant during their stays, especially while walking, and report any criminal incidents to the local police.
