Deadly flooding leaves two dead in Var as of October 11; further flooding and infrastructure damage expected

Significant flooding has been reported in the department of Var (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur), which has left two dead as of Thursday, October 11. Further flooding and infrastructure damage are expected as more rain is forecast for the region. Orange storm alerts issued by the French meteorological authorities Météo France remain in effect for the department, as well as for the Corsica region, on October 11-12.

Associated transportation disruptions, power outages, and hazardous driving conditions are anticipated.
