Warning

Event

Flooding rain warnings have been issued for the departments of Aude, Aveyron, Haute-Garonne, Hérault, Pyrénées-Orientales, and Tarn on Monday, October 15. The warnings come as the remnants of Post-Tropical Cyclone Leslie enter the region. Gusty winds and heavy rainfall are forecast in the abovementioned departments through Monday evening (local time). Consequent localized flooding and transportation disruptions (including flight delays and cancelations) are possible over the coming hours.

Context

Tropical cyclones and hurricanes typically form in the Atlantic Ocean from May through November, but rarely affect mainland Europe.

Advice

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate flash flooding and transportation delays, and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities. Remember that walking or driving through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
