Event

The far-right Wir für Deutschland (WfD) group has called for a demonstration to take place in Berlin on Wednesday, October 3, to demand, among other things, that border controls be reintroduced along German borders, and to call for a referendum on leaving the European Union. According to local sources, demonstrators will gather at Europaplatz from 14:00 to 17:00 (local time). A counter-demonstration to denounce a recent spate of demonstrations by the far-right will be held simultaneously along Friedrichstrasse and Johannisstrasse. A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are anticipated in the vicinity of the demonstrations.
