The Mexican weather service SMN has forecast heavy rain for the south of the country for Wednesday, October 10. Chiapas is expected to be the worst hit, with rainfall levels surpassing 25 cm (10 in) in parts of the state. Heavy rain is also expected in Oaxaca, Veracruz, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Morelos, Guerrero, Tabasco, and Campeche. Flooding and landslides, as well as associated transportation disruptions and power outages, are possible in the coming hours and days.

Furthermore, the capital Mexico City was hit by flash flooding caused by torrential rains on the evening of October 9, resulting in major traffic disruptions.
