Cyclone Luban hit the eastern Yemen governorate of Mahrah, killing one person and injuring around 100 others as of Monday, October 15. The storm hit on Sunday, bringing up to torrential rain to Mahrah and Oman's Dhofar governorate and flooding large areas. A local Yemeni spokesman stated that infrastructure, including power stations and telecommunication facilities, and 150 homes were damaged from the storm by winds gusts of up to 110 km/h (68 mph) and floodwater. Around 50 people were reportedly trapped by floodwater as of Monday. The Mahrah governor declared a state of emergency and called on international aid to assist in disaster relief efforts.
