Indefinite general strike set to begin November 7 called off; normal transportation, commercial, and public service operations anticipated

Warning

Event

An indefinite general strike set to begin on Wednesday, November 7, has been called off. As such, normal transportation, commercial, and public service operations are to be anticipated.

Context

Workers from both the private and the public sectors - including airport, banking, and government personnel - were initially expected to participate in the strike, called for by the Histadrut umbrella union to address worker safety concerns.

According to media reports, at least 37 people have died from accidents at construction sites in 2018. Histadrut leaders accused the government and employers of failing to adopt new measures to improve worker safety despite providing recommendations in recent days.
