Mexico: Fuel shortage reported in Jalisco state as of November 7

Fuel shortages in Jalisco state as of early November; transportation and other disruptions possible

Warning

Event

A fuel shortage is affecting Jalisco state as of Wednesday, November 7. The shortage is reportedly due to the closure of a fuel pipeline due to illegal taps as well as damage associated with the passing of Hurricane Wilma and Tropical Storm Vicente. Reports indicate that at least 500 of the state's 934 gas stations are currently affected by the fuel shortage, resulting in long queues at gas stations as well as transportation and business disruptions.

Advice

Individuals present in Jalisco state are advised to fill up vehicles whenever fuel is available, ensure sufficient fuel reserves before all long journeys, and expect longer waiting times at gas stations.
