Mexico: Mexico City water cuts prolonged to November 10 /update 4

Damages were incurred during works carried out on the water supply system in the Mexico City region early on Monday, November 5 (local time). According to the National Water Commission (Conagua) the issue will take 36 to 40 hours to be resolved.

Scheduled water cuts, ongoing since October 31, have affected 13 of the city's 16 boroughs, as well as 13 municipalities in the surrounding Estado de México state. Water had started being restored on November 3, will full services expected by November 8. However, this recent development means water may not be fully restored until November 10 in some areas. Some 135,000 business in Mexico City had reportedly closed as of November 2 due to the outage. Local officials continue to send water trucks and cisterns to affected areas.

The following Mexico City boroughs have been affected: Álvaro Obregón, Azcapotzalco, Benito Juárez, Coyoacán, Cuajimalpa, Cuauhtémoc, Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, Magdalena Contreras, Miguel Hidalgo, Tlalpan, Tláhuac, and Venustiano Carranza. The affected Estado de México municipalities are Toluca, Nicolás Romero, Cuatitlán Izcalli, Tultittlán, Coacalco, Cuautitlán, Tecámac, Ecatepec, Nezahualcóyotl, Huixquilucan, Naucalpan, Tlanepantla de Baz, and Atizapán.
