Mexico: Tropical Storm Xavier off Pacific coast November 5

Event

According to the US-based National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Xavier was located approximately 170 km (105 mi) west-southwest of Manzanillo (Colima state) as of 06:00 (local time) on Monday, November 5, and moving away from the area. The storm is not expected to make landfall. However, continued heavy rain - up to 10 cm (4 in) - and strong winds are forecast for the region, notably coastal areas, in the coming hours, e.g. the states of Colima, Jalisco, Guerrero, and Michoacán. A tropical storm warning has been issued for the coastline between San Telmo and Pérula. Associated flooding, landslides, material damages, and power outages are possible.

Mexico's Pacific Hurricane Season extends from May 15 to November 30 (and the Atlantic Hurricane Season from June 1 to November 30), with the largest concentration of storms typically occurring between August and October.
