Students have been organizing demonstrations since December 4 to denounce the rise in university fees and increasing economic difficulties.

On December 8, thousands of demonstrators blocked the Ministry of Education and the adjacent roads for a fifth consecutive days of protests. Disruptions have also affected other cities such as Elbasan, Durres and Korce.

Advice

Individuals in Albania are advised to monitor developments to the situation, follow any instruction issued by local authorities, and avoid all protests as a precaution.
