Cameroon: Deadly attack in Noun (West region) Dec. 23

Unidentified militants attack the town of Bangourain (West region) on December 23

On Sunday, December 23, unidentified armed men attacked the town of Bangourain (Noun department; West region) killing one people. Ten other people were abducted and at least 30 houses were burnt down in the attack. As of Monday, December 24, it remains unclear who is behind the attack. Some suspect the Anglophone separatists of carrying out the attack, while other suspect conflict over land issues might have triggered the attack. Similar attacks are possible in Cameroon in the near term.
