Cyprus: Deadly flooding in northern Cyprus Dec. 6

Event

Heavy rainfall and flooding in northern Cyprus since Tuesday, December 4, resulted in two people dead as of December 6. A major motorway has reportedly been partially closed, along with numerous schools. The inclement weather is expected to persist through December 6.

Associated transportation disruptions, along with power outages, are possible due to flooding and potential infrastructure damage.

Individuals in affected areas are advised to monitor local weather forecasts, prepare for transportation disruptions, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities. In the event of flooding, keep in mind that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
