On Tuesday, December 25, Indian authorities opened the country's longest railroad bridge in north-eastern Assam. The 5km (3 mi) Bogibeel bridge is located near the city of Dibrugarh and crosses the Brahmaputra river.

As a reminder, Indian authorities advise against all but essential travel to several areas of northeastern states (especially Manipur and Assam states) for security reasons, due to the presence of insurgent groups, sudden outbreaks of violence. Individuals operating in these areas are advised to review their security arrangements carefully and to adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities.
