Italy: Series of railway strikes planned nationwide December 9-16

A series of strikes will affect the rail network throughout Italy from Sunday, December 9, to Sunday, December 16. On December 9, employees at Trenord, a train operator in the Lombardia region, will hold a 23-hour strike from 03:00 (local time); on December 10, work stoppages will affect the regional operator Trenitalia in the Calabria region from 9:01 to 17:00; on December 16, Trenitalia staff in the Veneto region will go on strike from 9:01 to 16:59. Associated rail transportation delays and cancelations are expected throughout the network.

Context

On December 4, two strikes had already affected Italo NTV, the high-speed rail operator, and Trenitalia in the Sicily region.
