France: Police operation continues after shooting near Bastia January 30 /update 1

Officials confirm at least one person was killed and six others were wounded after a gunman opened fire on passersby in Montesoro district near Bastia on Wednesday evening (local time), January 30. The gunman has reportedly barricaded himself in a residence at the Cité Aurore apartment complex and a security cordon remains in place as of 18:30. Police have also evacuated the Boulodrome de Lupino and the Alb'Oru cultural center and have closed roads around the Cemetery of Bastia Montesoro. Further details are still emerging; avoid the area.
