Customers of a gold dealership company staged a demonstration in Kumasi (Ashanti region) on Tuesday, January 8, to demand the withdrawal of their deposits. Demonstrators blocked access to the Adum and Amakom areas of the town and reportedly set fire to tires. Security forces dispersed the demonstration and arrested at least three people. Further protests are possible in Kumasi the near term.

Authorities banned the company from was trading gold due to regulatory infractions.
