Fuel shortages continue to be reported in several states across Mexico, including Michoacán, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Tamaulipas, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Jalisco, and Guanajuato as of mid-January. According to reports, the fuel shortages have been, in part, caused by the closure of several oil pipelines throughout the country. Associated protests are possible in the abovementioned areas in near term.
