Mexico: Fuel shortages continue in several states as of mid-January /update 1

Fuel shortages continue to be reported in several states across Mexico, including Michoacán, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Tamaulipas, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Jalisco, and Guanajuato as of mid-January. According to reports, the fuel shortages have been, in part, caused by the closure of several oil pipelines throughout the country. Associated protests are possible in the abovementioned areas in near term.

Individuals in the abovementioned states are advised to fill up vehicles whenever fuel is available, ensure sufficient fuel reserves before all long journeys, and expect longer waiting times at gas stations.
