Additional security forces deploy to Adamawa region as of late January due to increase in kidnapping cases

On Thursday, January 31, Cameroonian security officials announced that 130 members of the gendarmerie's GIGN tactical unit would be deployed for five months to Adamawa region. Reports indicate the deployment follows an increase in the number of kidnappings in the area. A heightened security presence is to be anticipated in Adamawa region in the coming weeks.
