Environment Canada issues blizzard and winter storm warnings for southern Ontario, Quebec and eastern provinces for February 24-25; transportation disruptions possible

A strong winter storm is moving across southern and eastern portions of Canada as of Sunday, February 24, and forecast to continue through Monday, February 25. Blizzard, winter storm, and blowing snow warnings are in effect for large swathes of southern Ontario, southern Quebec, the eastern maritime provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and the island of Newfoundland. High winds of 120 km/h (75 mph) are forecast along the Great Lakes and gusts of up to 90 km/h (56 mph) forecast for the eastern regions. Snowfall of 20-35 cm (8-14 in) is possible overnight, likely resulting in extremely limited visibility and blizzard conditions. Transportation disruptions, including flight delays and cancelations, road closures, hazardous driving conditions, and traffic accidents and congestion, are possible across the area. Power and telecommunication disruptions are also possible.
