Verdi union calls for ground staff to strike at Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) and Hannover Airport (HAJ) on February 7; flight disruptions expected

The Verdi union is calling for ground staff to strike at Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) and Hannover Airport (HAJ) on Thursday, January 7. Baggage handlers at HAJ will strike from 05:00 until 13:00 (local time), potentially disrupting around 12 flights. Airport officials at DUS have also warned that flights will likely be delayed or canceled during a planned work stoppage from 03:00 to 11:00. Residual flight disruptions are also possible at both airports throughout January 7.

Context

The union is demanding increased pay during Christmas and holidays, as well as during night shifts. Verdi is currently in negotiations with employers, which are scheduled to resume on Friday, January 8.
