Madagascar: Heavy rain continues to affect the country Feb. 21

As of Thursday, February 21, heavy rain and flooding continue to affect several areas across the country, notably the western coast. Green weather alerts have been issued for several districts in the Melaky, Menabe, Atsimo Andrefana, and Androy regions due to heavy rain forecasted in the coming days. Flash floods were also reported in Tolaria (Atsimo Andrefana region) on February 19. Further severe weather conditions are forecast to persist in the coming days.

Flooding is common in Madagascar, particularly during the rainy season (November to April), and can result in significant transportation disruptions, structural damage, and loss of life.
