A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit 44 km (27 mi) east-northeast of Pampas (Tayacaja province) on Thursday morning (local time), February 14. Residents in neighboring Huancayo and in the capital Lima reported shaking, although officials indicate the earthquake caused no damage. Aftershocks are possible in the area over the coming hours and days.
