The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) headquarters in Nanaimo (British Columbia province) has been evacuated on the morning (local time) of Tuesday, March 19, after police received two suspicious packages. Police have cordoned off the building and adjacent Fitzwilliam Street from its intersections with Milton and Prideaux streets.

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected around the site over the coming hours.
