A wildfire broke out in the Liguria region on the night (local time) of Monday, March 25, forcing authorities to close part of the A10 highway west of Genoa. The A10 is closed between Arenzano to Savona as of Tuesday, March 26, as firefighters work to contain the blaze. Some residents in the Cogoleto area of Capieso have been evacuated as a precaution after the fire started at approximately 23:00 on Monday night. Emergency personnel are reportedly struggling to contain the flames, which are being spread by gusts of wind up to 100 kph (62 mph). Localized traffic disruptions are expected to continue through Tuesday as containment efforts continue and further evacuations are possible. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
