Youth group to hold march to commemorate Armenian Genocide in Nicosia on April 24; localized disruptions expected

The Committee of Memory for the Armenian Genocide is planning a youth rally in Nicosia to commemorate for 104th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on Wednesday, April 24. Demonstrators will gather on Makarios Avenue near the Zena Kanther building at 17:30 (local time) before marching down Armenia Avenue to the Armenian Prelature building in Acropolis. A larger memorial service is planned at the Armenian Genocide Monument at 19:30. Localized transportation disruptions are expected.

The rally is being held to commemorate the Armenian Genocide, which occurred in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 and resulted in the deaths of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians.
