Teachers plan nationwide demonstrations amid an ongoing 24-hour strike April 10; localized disruptions expected

The CNTE (National Coordination of Education Workers) teachers' union has called for nationwide demonstrations to take place amid an ongoing nationwide 24-hour teachers strike on Friday, April 10. The exact time and location for the demonstrations remain unknown; however protesters in the capital Mexico city reportedly intend to establish camps in front of the Chamber of Deputies. A heightened security presence, and associated traffic disruptions, are to be expected in the vicinity of the demonstration sites.

Context

Teachers are protesting against educational reforms. A similar protest which took place on April 5 at Plaza de la Constitución (Zócalo) in Mexico city resulted in road closures.
