The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) warned on Tuesday, April 2, that southern parts of the country are currently facing a significant risk from wildfires. According to SMHI officials, areas with the highest risk include southern Götaland, Svealand region, and the Gävleborg coast. As of Tuesday, 27 districts are under a grass fire risk warning. SMHI forecasters said that increasing temperatures along with a recent long dry spell has created a significant fire risk.
