Italy: Political demonstrations planned in Milan May 18
Lega Nord Party supporters, political opponents to demonstrate in Milan May 18; heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions expected

Approximately 30,000 supporters of the Lega Nord party are expected to attend a demonstration in Milan on Saturday, May 18, for a political march and rally. Demonstrators will reportedly gather at Porta Venezia for a rally at 12:00 (local time) and subsequently march from Corso Venezia to Piazza Duomo via Piazza Oberdan, San Babila, Corso Matteotti, and Piazza della Scala between 15:00-19:00.
A second march organized by political opponents of the Lega Nord party is slated to take place on Saturday. Protesters will gather at Largo Cairoli at 14:00 and proceed to Giardini della Guastalla via Via Carducci, Colonne di San Lorenzo, and Univeristà Statale.
A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected near the demonstration sites. Clashes between the groups of political demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out.
