Legislative elections scheduled May 27; constitutional referendum postponed indefinitely

Madagascar is set to hold legislative elections on Monday, May 27. Voters will elect representatives to the 151-seat National Assembly, the lower house of parliament. The official campaign period is from May 6 through Saturday, May 25, and demonstrations and association localized disruptions are possible. A constitutional referendum previously announced by President Andry Rajoelina was postponed indefinitely on April 25 following a ruling from the Supreme Court.
