Heavy rainfall and strong wind result in over 100 flight cancelations at Jeju and Gimhae International Airports May 27; residual flight disruptions possible over the coming hours

Warning

Event

Heavy rain and strong wind have caused the cancelation of more than 100 flights at Jeju (CJU) and Gimhae (PUS) International Airports (southern South Korea) on Monday, May 27, affecting thousands of passengers. Numerous other flights have also been delayed. Heavy rain is likely to persist over the coming days. Further flight and other transportation disruptions are expected in the coming days.

Advice

Individuals flying through PUS and CJU are advised to confirm their respective flight statuses, maintain flexible itineraries, and anticipate flight disruptions, including cancelations and delays.

Individuals in affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions prior to setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. It is important to note that that walking or driving through floodwaters can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
