Opposition supporters plan protests in Kinshasa June 13, 15; avoid all gatherings

On Thursday, June 13, opposition supporters from the Lamuka party are planning to stage protests in Kinshasa to denounce a recent decision from the Constitutional Court to nullify 23 electoral seats at the National Assembly. Protesters will march from the Palais du Peuple to the Constitutional Court building. On Saturday, June 15, a related protest organized by supporters of the Movement for the Liberation of Congo (MLC) opposition party will take place in Kinshasa. A heightened security presence along with traffic disruptions are likely around any demonstration site.
