Heatwave forecast to hit Germany from June 24- 30; drink fluids and avoid outdoor and strenuous activities

Germany is forecast to experience high temperatures beginning Monday, June 24, and lasting through at least Sunday, June 30, although it cannot be ruled out that they may continue for a few more days. The warmest day is forecast to be on Wednesday, June 26. The heatwave is expected to bring temperatures as high as 40°C (104°F). The heat wave will affect large areas of the country. Frankfurt and Hesse are the areas where temperatures are expected to be the highest.

Individuals in Germany, particularly in Frankfurt and Hesse, are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid strenuous activities or spending time outdoors, particularly during midday, wear loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and avoid dehydrating liquids, such as alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated drinks, and seek immediate medical attention if exhibiting symptoms of heat stroke, such as nausea, confusion, headache, rapid and strong pulse, and dry skin.
