LGBT pride parade to be held in Rome June 8; business disruptions and crowded conditions expected

Rome is scheduled to host the annual LGBT pride parade on Saturday, June 8. Some 10,000 people are slated to attend a parade - which begins at 14:00 (local time) - from Piazza della Repubblica to Piazza Madonna di Loreto via Viale Luigi Einaudi, Piazza dei Cinquecento, Via Cavour, Piazza dell'Esquilino, Via Liberiana, Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore, Via Merulana, Via Labicana, Piazza del Colosseo, and Via dei Fori Imperiali. Authorities have announced traffic restrictions will be in effect along the parade route from 13:00 to 21:30.
Heightened security can be expected in the vicinity of the march route. Severe traffic disruptions and road closures due to large crowds are also to be anticipated.
