Russia: No tsunami warning issued after second large Kamchatka quake June 26 /update 1
6.4-magnitude earthquake hits off coast of Kamchatka Krai on June 26, following similar large quake the previous day; no tsunami warning issued
Event
The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.4-magnitude earthquake on Wednesday, June 26, near Kamchatka Krai the day following a similarly large quake. The earthquake occurred around 14:18 (local time) around 48 km (30 mi) off the coast of Kamchatka at a depth of 10 km (6.2 mi). There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties and no tsunami warning was issued. Further aftershocks are possible in the coming hours and days.

Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor the situation, prepare for aftershocks, and anticipate localized infrastructure damage and transportation and telecommunication disruptions.
In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves as much as possible from falling debris if indoors (e.g. under a table), move away from windows, and not attempt to leave a building unless there is an immediate danger. If outdoors, move away from tall buildings, utility wires, and streetlights.
