US: Strong storms cause flooding, flight delays in south-central Texas June 9

Strong storms moving through south-central Texas on June 9 cause flash floods and flight delays near Austin and San Antonio; maintain flexible itineraries

Strong thunderstorms moving through south-central Texas state on Sunday evening (local time), June 9, have caused flash flooding and caused flight disruptions. Wind gusts of up to 100 kph (60 mph) and large hail is expected in south-central Texas state, including Austin and San Antonio. Wind damage and associated transportation and power disruptions are likely in the area. The US National Weather Service (NWS) also issued flash flood warnings for Austin (Texas state) and counties to the west and south. Several flights at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and San Antonio International Airport (SAT) were delayed as of 21:00. Further disruptions, including to flights, are likely through the remainder of the day.
