Nicaragua: Nationwide celebrations for revolution 40th anniversary
Events to commemorate the 40th revolution anniversary expected nationwide; heightened security presence expected

A series of events are planned to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the revolution in Nicaragua from Wednesday, July 17, through Friday, July 19.
On Friday, July 19, main events in Managua are expected to take place in the Rotunda Hugo Chávez, Plaza de la Revolución, Plaza la Fe Juan Pablo II, and the Malecón areas. Over 200,000 people have attended events during previous related gatherings.
Additional demonstrations may occur in Managua or elsewhere in Nicaragua with little or no notice.
A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected surrounding all events and protests.
