Nigeria: Trade unions threaten nationwide strike July 1

The Trade Union Side (TUS) of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) released a statement on Monday, July 1, threatening to launch a nationwide strike if the government does not implement the new minimum wage law. Members of the TUS, which is a collective of unions that represents federal and state government public workers, have accused the Federal Government of attempting to derail negotiations that would prevent raising wages. As of Wednesday, July 3, the TUS has not officially announced if it will organize a strike.
