Warning

Event

The Unified Union of Air Traffic Controllers of Peru (SUCTA) has announced that its workers will strike from 19:00 (local time) on Friday, July 26, to 19:00 on Sunday, July 28, to draw attention to poor working conditions. The strike is expected to affect airports nationwide, particularly Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM), and comes as thousands of foreign athletes and visitors descend upon Peru for the 2019 Pan American Games, which will be held in Lima from Friday, July 26, to Sunday, August 11.

Flight delays and cancelations are to be expected at Peruvian airports during the strike period.

Advice

Individuals flying to or from Peru are advised to monitor developments, expect consequent flight delays and cancelations, confirm flight reservations prior to leaving for the airport, and contact their airline for more information.
