South Korea: Subway workers in Busan go on indefinite strike July 10

Following failed wage negotiations in Busan between subway management and the Busan Transportation Corporation's union, union workers went on an indefinite strike beginning the morning (local time) of Wednesday, July 10. Approximately 2400 of the union's 3401 members are taking part in the strike.

Rush-hour services on Wednesday reportedly ran on schedule despite the strike, but trains are expected to run less frequently during daytime hours. Operation rates are predicted to decrease to around 60 percent should the strike continue. If the strike continues, Busan City is expected to provide alternative transportation services, such as buses and taxis.
