Violent clashes between protesters and police erupted in the morning (local time) on Monday, August 26, at a student-led demonstration at the University of Kinshasa (Kinshasa province). Police reportedly used tear gas to disperse groups of students during a planned march calling for the resumption of classes, which have been canceled since August 7 due to an ongoing teachers' strike. Some injuries were reported by both sides as a result of the clashes. No deaths have been reported.
