Germany: Anti-racism demonstration scheduled in Dresden on August 24

Activists in Dresden are organizing a demonstration against racism on August 24; transportation disruptions expected

A group of civil society organizations and political parties have scheduled an anti-racism demonstration in Dresden (Saxony) for Saturday, August 24. Participants are scheduled to meet up at 12:00 (local time) at the Kulturpalast and an opening rally will begin at 13:00 at the Altmarkt until 15:00. After the rally, another demonstration and final rally will take place at the Cockerwiese.

Another group will meet up at 11:30 at Volkshaus Dresden and will proceed to the Altmarkt at 12:30.

Up to 25,000 participants are expected for the event.

A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are to be expected around all marches, demonstrations, and rallies.
