Germany: Frankfurt Central Station closed amid police operation August 2

Frankfurt Central Station has been closed, suspending train service, amid a police operation centered in the Düsseldorfer Strasse area as of Friday afternoon (local time), August 2. Police officers have reportedly fired shots due to a suspected bank robbery in the area. The Gallus and Westend-Süd areas are also affected by the police operation.

A heightened security presence and lingering transportation disruptions (including train delays and cancelations) are to be expected in the abovementioned areas in Frankfurt over the coming hours.
