Lebanon: Gunfire reported in Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian camp (Sidon) after killing August 2

Gunfire has been reported in the Al-Sifsaf area of Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in Sidon on Friday, August 2, after unidentified gunmen killed a protester marching in the Ras al-Ahmar area of the camp earlier in the day. Conflicting reports variously claimed the gunfire was connected to clashes in the camp following the killings or came from members of the deceased victim's family, mourning the incident. The victim was reportedly a member of the Islamist Osbat al-Ansar militia.

Further unrest is possible in the area over the coming hours and days.
